I’m obsessed with Richie Hofman’s work. This is at once familiarly him and new. I hardly have words for how his poems make me feel: they cannot be summarized.
Visually stunning. Stimulating to the senses. I just didn't hear the words ... I felt them. I enjoyed being taken away from this house of horror, if only for a few fleeting seconds... Ahhh I can breath. At least THESE walls will not be the only thing that impregnates my mind and body. Thank You Richie, for taking us from out of the ancient catacombs into a more "lively" realm of possibilities. The smell of others is way more advantageous than Charlene's one track line of thought on how to get from point A to point B? Like for example: Charlene needs to make a deposit to the throne god, expeditiously before we all end up wearing it. Hell, if THIS is the only way she can get wet AND without enjoyment... Oh Brother, We need to find a way on how to get her liquored up and into action!

SUMMER
Summer rain.
Fireflies.
A bonfire by the river.
Intrepid but wise.
Watching moccasins slither.
Bicycle crash;
You bet your ass,
More scars on my knees again.
Day of my birth.
I’m a firework.
Hot and humid.
Drink plenty of fluid.
Maybe old,
But far from cold.
I think I’ll take on one or two of those young men.
Sky full of stars;
Skin sticks to hot car’s
Hood.
These two are so good,
Gotta be close friends,
Bend me over backward.
We three Kings burn like cordwood,
Time suspends.
For a few, brief moments, without a word, we understood;
Summer never ends.
